I want to design my own micro processor, how should i go about it?

I want to develop a robot which could have its own microprocessor, which could sens any obstruction in its direction and could able to change the direction. Please help me.
I want to design my own micro processor, how should i go about it?
You don't want to design your microprocessor, trust me.

You want to do one of two things.

1. program an existing a microcontroller (such as an Arduino board) to do what you want.

2.Build a logic state machine. That could be rendered as code on a microcontroller, a Programmable Logic Array, actual logic chips, or my favorite, an EPROM which basically hold a table relating the input states (address) to the particular output states for each input instance (data)

How much would it cost to have a pc repair shop change my motherboard?

I have an HP pavilion DV6000 notebook, and it has an amd processor, the laptop its self is about 3 months old. but I want an intel core 2 duo processor in it, along with a good video card. So how much would it cost to have them give me an intel motherboard with a new video card, and install it themselves?

The Motherboard itself is very expensive depending on the model of your computer.I had a sony vaio with a dead motherboard and it cost me $300 because I took it to a PC repair shop but now it overheats because those idiots gave me the wrong ac adapter. getting fixed through sony would have been $700.You gotta know who you dealing with.

Usually notebooks will not support this kind of upgrade. It will probably be cheaper to buy a different notebook that has the features that you want.

good luck

How much of a difference in gaming would this change make?

I want to switch my processor from a E6300 Duo Core at 1.86 GHz to a Q6600 Quad Core at 2.4 GHz. How much of a difference in gaming would this make? Is it worth it considering that the upgrade isn't too expensive?

If your game runs to your liking now and you are smart enuff to make sure your pc isnt running a ton of apps in the background, I doubt you will see much change in performance. Save your bucks for a possible future pc.
How much of a difference in gaming would this change make?
It depends on what game you're playing. Cyrsis, then yes. The Orange Box, then no. Not that many games use all four cores, most only use two. If you play games that only use two, then you should get an E8400, a fast 45nm dual core.
it'd make a large difference in gaming. And in general applications as well. I think the Q6600 is the best price/performance ratio for a computer.
Most of the games have their recommended and minimal requirements. But aside from that, games in general eat up a lot of RAM. So what I did was to max out the RAM (4 GB) and everything runs much smoother now. CPU doesn't play as big of a role as RAM.

Moreover, if you want more improvement on your applications speed, try upgrading the L2 Cache. Last but not least, your graphics card may not be so powerful to run your games.

List can go on and on. Those should be main factors though.

Cheers

How do i check my computer processor's socket type without taking it out?

Well im thinking about changing my motherboard, but i still want to use my old processor, but I am not sure what the socket type is.

Is there a way to do it w/o taking the actual processor chip off the motherboard?
How do i check my computer processor's socket type without taking it out?
try some search about your current processor type and it's compatibility with the socket on motherboard, so you'll find the type of the socket that you are using now.
How do i check my computer processor's socket type without taking it out?
Depends what version of windows you are using.

Generally it can be checked using My Computer icon on the desktop. Right click the icon and select properties and then go to device manager. You will see all the hardware information on your computer.
For Windows XP, go to:

Start-%26gt;Settings-%26gt;Control Panel, then

double click the %26quot;System%26quot; icon,

look at the information displayed on the

%26quot;General%26quot; tab. This should provide some

information about your processor. From

there google for information about that

specific processor.

Would you find converting to a new religion more appealing if they gave out prizes? like toasters at banks?

You'll switch banks for a coffee maker, how about changing churches for a food processor?
Would you find converting to a new religion more appealing if they gave out prizes? like toasters at banks?
Can I get a new set of W眉sthof knives instead? The professional line, of course. Food processors and I don't get along too well. Never have and never will.

You are aware I'll go back to my own faith the minute I get the knives, right? 'Tis the heathen way and has been the heathen way for many, many centuries. (Though admittedly most people don't try to convert us as they seem to find us a little frightening and they wouldn't DREAM of handing one of us a knife.)

You betcha.
no, i have a food processer. maybe for an PS3
For a large enough sum, I could be persuaded. Hell, not like I have a soul to worry about.
Gift certificate to Coffee O, perhaps?

(heh heh)
If they give out a George Foreman grill then yes i would...
i have a food processor you give me a church thats giving out aerogardens im there ;)
If religion was that shallow it would match the dumpster-ready condition that all humans would be in if we were not created due to having absolutely no worth.
Hahaha, hilarious!

God will throw back their mockery on them, and give them rope in their trespasses; so they will wander like blind ones (To and fro). Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, God took away their light and left them in utter darkness. So they could not see. Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return .

Why are Macs have slower processor and is faster than Windows?

I am hopefully getting to get an ibook soon and wanted to know why Mac's have a lower amount processor and runs better? Also how would, for example 3.0gHZ and 3.2gHZ change the computer? Does it make it fun faster or something?

    Thanks for your help
Why are Macs have slower processor and is faster than Windows?
I presume you meant a MACbook, not an ibook.

Macs these days *don't* have slower processors, although they used to. They seem to run faster because they have better memory mapping algorithms and IO priorities... Two things that windows XP lacks (although Vista has improved on).

Speed generally means nothing. A 4ghz pentium 4 processor will be beaten by a 2ghz Core 2 Duo (Conroe) processor. Efficiency is what's key. Modern CPU's can do more with every hz (ghz = billions of hz) than older ones could, so they don't need as many hz as older ones did.

As for 3.2 vs 3.0ghz... Nothing. If you're getting a macbook, I'd get around 1.8ghz one. Longer battery life with a slower CPU, and less heat.
Why are Macs have slower processor and is faster than Windows?
Macs just manage info better. It's all in the programming. PC's have to pump up the processor to compete because they aren't programmed as well.
...because Apple got their act together and built a reliable, stable system.
its all in the OS. take those slower windows systems and run Linux on them and theyll run faster....more gHZ means more processing speed so yes...i recommend alienware notebooks... http://alienware.com
There are several reasons, but the main one is how the systems operate. Mac's when started basically only turn on the items they need to run. Windows on start up opens up a whole gaggle of useless programs and leaves the running hidden in the background. A major flaw in the Windows system I think.
they dont they just have a better transitional process

just becouse the computer does a little effect before it starts a program doesnt make it fatster besides that you load your comp with junk if its slowjust wait till that mac is good and loaded down wit junk like your windows machine and well see its the sifting that takes so long and youll know im right soon enugh
Cos windows is crap? Malware, spyware, too many programs available.

Plus there hardware is totally different so can't be compared
Your processing activities will not be any faster on a Mac or under XP/Vista or under Linux, nor I'll bet under CP/M!

Theoretical speeds don't translate directly over to activities. If you are going from 0 to Mac, ok it might be no slower than learning a PC. But if you are going from PC to Mac, expect things to be slow at the start (human operator factors).

Don't spend too much time worrying about %26quot;mine is faster than yours%26quot;, because I bet you a hot i86 PC will blow away any i86 Mac! If your ibook is not using an Intel processor, you are buying into dead Mac technology.
Windows has always been slow. I gobsmacked people in the mid 90's by running the OS/2 2.1 Windows emulator on a PC half the speed everybody else had and it was three times quicker. I wish Bill would let IBM sort out his operating system.
