Laptop processor question?

i have a gateway M-6850FX series laptop, (its the 15 inch version)

i have been wanting to change the processor in it, i currently have a t5550, I KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE PROCESSOR, i was wondering if i could change it to a P8400, or do i have to stick with the older T series?

Also what kind of boost in performance would i get if i were to do this?

im planning on getting a t8300 if i cannot put a P8400 in it

the performance im talking about is in games, how much better would they run?

and please dont say anything about getting a desktop for games, i already have one for games, but its not mobile so i cant use it on the go
Laptop processor question?
Changing the processor on a laptop really would be walking a fine line.

Yes it MIGHT work, but the laptop isn't built for that processor, so does this new processor use more power? Is the Laptop built for that?

Other things could start to go wrong, not knowing if that combination of motherboard with that processor.

With that said, you aren't going to get that big of difference in any game for a laptop. As you know for Games the power comes from the Graphics! Yes you probably would get a small increase in some loading screens (when the game starts up) but you aren't going to see anything in the actually game play! Even with that, upgrading the RAM would probably give you just as much of difference.
Laptop processor question?
Honestly, other then the usual worries with compatibility that I'm afraid I can't help you with, As I'm not at all familiar with laptop hardware, The only thing I have for you is that the processor will make a huge difference when loading, playing RTSs, or multitasking. When it comes to multitasking, the RAM does make a greater difference, but the RAM and processor work together.

You will not see much of a difference in, basic programs after they have loaded, FPS, graphics, or action adventure games (save the loading screen).
