You will have to check with the manufacturer of your motherboard. If it is new enough it may support the quad core.

If they have the same socket type, then yes.
You need to check the CPU Support List of your motherboard.
Go to www.newegg.com for forums there would be your best bet. But from what I know you can replace it as long as the processor works with the motherboard and you can ask that on those forums.
It MAY be possible...I have to assume at 4 years old your processor is an AM2....IF you have a GOOD mother board its possible to update the BIOS to use the power of an AM3 quad core (or an AM2+) you would have to go to your mother board manufactures website to see if they have the latest BIOS updates that will allow you to use quad core. Caution! updating a BIOS (%26quot;flashing%26quot;) is tricky and if done wrong, could screw up your mother board!
