I bought a Dell Vostro with an Intel Core 2 duo a few years back, and was wondering if I would be able too put a new Intel Core 2 Duo in it without any difficulties.

Also if it isn't too muh trouble, can anyone forward me too a decent guide explaining how to change your processor out?

Have you checked your motherboard specifications to see if you can upgrade the CPU to the model you desire to use... The Dell Vostro came in many flavors and speeds...

Download CPUz, install and run the software, it will give you your motherboard and CPU specifications...

Armed with the information you can visit the manufactures website and determine the recommended CPUs that can be used in your motherboard...

Changing a processor is really easy. As long as the processors are the same there shouldn't be any problems. First unplug the computer and open the case. Locate the cpu fan and remove the heat sink and fan. If you have a grounding wrist strap its a good idea to use one since static electricity is very destructive. Remove the old processor by lifting the socket lever. Next step is taking a alcohol prep pad and wipe the surface of the new processor. Do not touch any of the pins on the cpu because oil from your skin will cause hot spots and could damage the new cpu. Find some good silicone based thermal compound, or Artic Silver heatsink compound from best buy. Install the new processor...take note on the pin layout so you dont bend any pins. clean the heatsink on the side that faces the cpu. put a small amount of thermal paste on the new cpu and spread evenly. if any thermal paste squeezes out wipe it off with another alcohol pad.
i dont think you would have a problem
