Calling all computer geeks!?

im looking to change my processor, motherboard, and graphics card because my computer just can't withstand 2days video games. this is what i dream (not to actually buy) but im wondering, how much would be the cost of a dual core around 2.2 ghz with hyper threading. Remember, i need a motherboard to support this.

The only non-XEON processor with hyper threading the presler - which is $1000 by itself:

You do realize that Most dual core processors do NOT have Hyper Threading.

You should probably consider going with an AMD Athlon X2 - they're generally considered better for gaming anyway.

Googling for hardware retailers would provide you with a million and one websites with this kind of information on them, such as:

Ummmm you lost me there. Not a computer geek =(
go to www.tigerdirect.com and search for the products you need.

The prices arent too shabby either
first if you buy a new processor like the intel core2 duo, you do not need the hyperthreading anymore. you can get a good motherboard for 200$ and the core 2 duo E6600(the best for the price/cost) costs about 400$
You might as well get a new pc.
your best bet is to just get a new tower , to be frank it would be a good investment really you will probably spend more in the long run there are alot of really good cpu's out there for a good price get one with an AMD 64 athlon x2 very good and im sure you will be happy with it you might like to check out best buy and look at there HP pavilion AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 3800+ 1.99 GHz 1.00 GB or RAM i had a Graphics card add for 90.00 a Radeon X1300 and this computer rocks for a real affordable price that is my sugestion good luck enjoy
i wouldnt recommend buying from tigerdirect.com .. they usually sell refurbished stuff

if u are into gaming, consider getting an alienware computer (now owned by dell) or an xps from dell...

or if u want a cheaper one, get a computer with an amd 64 bit processor..

amd is a gaming processor and usually fits well for gamers

consider buying 2giga ram

buy a new computer

dont spend more in repairing the one u have

it sound like u need a change

go for amd 64 bit
change your whole computer man
With Core 2 Duo there's no need for Hyperthreading as it's the same as having 2 (TWO) processors. One could be dedicated to just gaming and gaming only. How nice does that sound to ya? TigerDirect is an excellent place to buy computer parts. Yes, they sell some refurbished stuff, but not refurbished parts. Regardless, it will say if it's refurbished right next to the price, if that's the case. Remember though, if you decide on building your system, think about alternative ways to keep the inside of the case cooler with the set up you're wanting. good luck! And building is cheaper than buying pre-built!
