Desktop Processor help?

i got a desktop Compaq desktop EN, and its got a 256 ram, Intel processor 3 865MZ, windows xp and am not sure about the video card, I want to upgrade the ram to 1.5, the processor to lntel duo core, and i might change the video card once i know what it is, is this possible to do?



i know how to change the ram but am not to sure about the processor how do i change the current processor in the desktop?



Is there any program out there that can diagnose my desktop to tell what stuff i can upgrade my pc spec's with?



I want to use this computer for college because am doing a AA computer information system major degree, and need the spec's to change because the computer is to slow

RAM is the only thing you can increase. You would have to get a new motherboard to support the CPU and up to date graphics card. Also this would be too much of an upgrade to use your windows operating system, you would have to buy another OS.

LOL. Sorry man, you might as well toss that thing into the garbage. You can't upgrade that thing. Yeah, the RAM, but it will still be extremely slow. The Core 2 Duo processors are a completely different, and much more advanced, socket and will not go into that motherboard.

You will need to get a whole new computer if you want to see any performance increase. Sorry man.
