Can i change my processor?

i have a intel celeron R with 2.2GHz i found a computer with a 1.8 intel duel core but the Computer has a virus would it infect my PC if i swap processors and how easy would it be do they just have to be the same cpu size and how much faster is a 1.8GHZ duel core than the celeron
Can i change my processor?
first of all no the only way it would infect your current PC is if you also swap hard drives. You will have to check what socket type is on the motherboard of your PC but from what i remember most dual core CPUs will not run the same socket as any celeron CPUs. next for speed some people who lack the knowledge think that dual core means 2 processors which is false it is 1 CPU with 2 proccesing cores running at 1.8ghz therefore you can run to programs simultaniously without slowing one or the other down
Can i change my processor?
Well, if they were the same size, and capatable to the motherboard, which they likely aren't, there would be no virus. And, you would loose speed due to the fact that the more GHz you have, the faster your computer is.
no, most viruses just cause the hard drive problems/harm.

processors r not affected.

just dwnload a kaspersky trial and remove the virus

n the 1.8 dual core shud b much better then the celeron.

u do kno that celerons are 1 of the slowest processors available.
No. The celeron is based on a 478 socket, where the dual core is (if it is a core 2 duo) a socket 775. You would need a new mother board and new memory. Why not just either remove the virus or format the drive and reinstall your programs on it?

Good Luck

well it depends on the machine itself, mainly the motherboard and what socket type it uses, because there is many different types of socket type and motherboard type we would need to know what motherboard to say if it can support that dual core. and as for the virus, no it will transfer the virus between the windows cpu's
the virus attack the window in the HDD so it will not infect your pc

but make sure the processor are the same size for the old one and your

motherboard support it (intel duel core)

the intel duel core more faster than the celeron
